On Nov. 14th we gathered at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum, + Archives for our monthly Safer Spaces event. The activity this week was print making for Trans Awareness week! Below you will find the final pieces accompanied by the voices of trans leaders, activists, and community members.
“No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us” – Marsha P. Johnson “All trans kids deserve to be happy” – Jazz Jennings “May your rage inform your actions, and your actions transform you as you struggle to transform your world.” – Susan Stryker “It is revolutionary for any trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist” – Laverne Cox “Let’s be gentle with ourselves and each other and fierce as we fight oppression.” – Dean Spade “I followed the trail out of the room, invigorated by the possibility of reinventing my own body. The meaning was mine, as long as I was with those who had the vision and vocabulary to understand my creation.” — Nick Krieger “Transitioning takes time and is different for every person” – Community Member
